Thursday

Last day! I will be sad to leave the group. I started with the information on parental involvement in the school and we had a great discussion. We finished to information on Teacher Supervision and this provoked a lot of good discussion as well. After lunch I staryed the Technology presentaion and between the little clips and all the discussion that took us up to closure and draw time for my handouts. I had enough goodies that everyone got something. They presented me with a hat, T-shirt, coffe mug, busness card holder and a key chain all with Belize on them. Barbara and Leslie worked hard today finishing up there presentaions and getting the Inst. Leaders divided up and final preparation. I have to edit some of the blogs as soon as I learn how.

Wednesday

Best day by far!! Everything seemed to fall into place. I presented the Differentated Instuction lesson slated for Secondary teachers and we covered Balanced Lieracy. Because it is cloudy and raining it is remaining quite comfortable. Barbara and Leslie are going great things with their group as well. I really felt good about this day. I worked on the power point for parent involvement in the evening.

Tuesday

Everything went a bit easier on Tuesday as we had some familiarity with our group and our surroundings. I had worked on CAPS on Monday so we looked at Planning. I had the group give me 3 things they wanted out of the 4 days and some of their requests followed our schedule of events but there were some different requests. I weighted them by the number of times a similar request was made. The group is so attentive and they are so dedicated. My tabulation indicated they wanted the presentation on Differentiated Learning, Technology, and they wanted some information on getting parents involved in the school. As part of the Planning I made a SMART Goal that I would put together a short power point presentation for Thursday morning Aug. 5 at 9:00am. They had some fun with SMART Goals. One of the principals talked to me afterwards and he stated he had worked in a university and he presented on SMART Goals to his students. I told him he should have presented instead of me. Bad day for my billet as her car broke down. I am able to Skype home from Cynthia's.

San Ignacio happenings!

Everything has gone quite well here. Cynthia, my billet got us into Sacred Heart Sunday am so we could set up our rooms. Barb was feeling ill and stayed at the hotel. Later in the pm Cynthis took me on a guided tour of Cahal Pech. She is an amateur archeologist so I recieved a lot of great information. I was a bit apprehensive about Monday morning as the reported numbers were overwhelming. We planned for the necessity of presenting in a different room, however, there were only 42 principals that appeared on Monday. What a great group!! They are so attentive and polite. Barb was really ill and Cynthia took her to a doctor and to the hospital. She recovered well enough to resume her position Monday pm. Leslie and Barbara's group is smaller than anticipated as well. Leslie, of course, worked with the whole group on Monday until Barb was ready to go into the classroom. I understand we have been fortunate with all the rain here as this has kept the temperature down and it has been quite tolerable. Everthing went well on Monday for everyone.
